Applesauce

We had an apple tree in our yard when I was growing up in New York. It’s no longer there, but the memory of my mom’s applesauce lives on — here is my raw take on her recipe.

It’s easy to fill up a bunch of mini-containers with this fresh tasting applesauce and pack them in children’s lunchboxes. Or spoon it over pancakes or cereal, or simply enjoy a bowl as a between meal snack

  • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and chopped;
  • 1 cup raisins;
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice;
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional);
  • Pinch of sea salt.

Variations:

Cinnamon Applesauce: Add ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon.

Berry Applesauce: Add ½ cup berries of your choice.

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or high-speed blender and process for about 5 minutes, until very smooth.

Warm Regards,

Carol
