Who Says Health is Just for the Wealthy?

By Carol Alt / Post / May 3, 2017

You know, just when I think I’ve run out of things to talk about, I end up at a dinner or meeting that turns into a conversation about health. In the magazine Town and Country this week, they’re running an article on how the wealthy try to stay healthy. They say that being “truly” healthy is only for the wealthy. I seriously have to somewhat disagree. After reading all the newfangled things that rich people are trying to do to be healthy, all the genetics, all the machines, the hot, the cold, the up, the down– for me health just comes down to one basic thing.

What do you do to your body?

The main question involves what you’re eating. Are you eating on unprocessed, healthy, mostly raw food? Or are you eating processed, artificial, genetically modified, mostly cooked food? Food is for the wealthy only in the sense that the better foods, which are organic, are more expensive. But the more we demand organic food, the more prices will come down because more farms will convert. Food should not be just for the wealthy. Good food should not just be for the wealthy either. The next is water. Are you drinking tap water directly out of the tap? It’s not good to drink water out of the tap because depending on where you live, it very likely has garbage in it- chemicals, bio sludge, runoff, etc.

What we put into our sewer systems and dumps sooner or later finds its way has into the water table, especially since we’re using bio sludge to grow our crops. There’s a very big possibility that our water has all sorts of drugs and chemotherapy and other things in it. Therefore, a home filter is a must. In this sense, again, water should not be for the wealthy. It should be for everyone.

Skin care is also hugely important. You definitely need a very healthy skin care. You don’t need one that says it’s organic and natural, because they all say that, but one that actually IS organic and natural. That means you have to read the labels. Otherwise, I prefer to use olive oil and coconut oil (all cold pressed) in place of skin care that is more expensive. I mean it would be great if you could afford popular skin care, but if you can’t, there’s always something you can use. Good skin, healthy skin should not just be for the wealthy either!

And finally, we talk about your air. We know how polluted our air is- it has been a problem since the industrial ages. And now with the repealing of some EPA guidelines and funding, the air is only going to get worse. I personally run air purifiers, even in my car. Air should not just be for the wealthy.

My point is that if some of these people that were putting billions of dollars into cryogenics and other things were putting it into our food, our air, and our water… Then maybe, just maybe, not just the wealthy would have a chance and good health, even us poor people down here in the population, down here in the real world, could have a shot at health!
